We have all gathered here on this auspicious occasion to celebrate Egerton University's most recent graduands, and on behalf of the University Council, I would like to congratulate you for reaching this far.
You join the ranks of some extraordinary people, and you have every reason to be proud of what you have to offer. Graduating is a significant achievement always. However, graduating in 2021 is truly exceptional! That you managed to complete your studies at the time of a pandemic suggests that you are resilient, determined, and you know how to adapt to difficult circumstances. These skills are, in many ways, the skills of our time, so I have the full confidence that you are ready for the journey ahead.
My appreciation goes out to the lecturers, administrators, sponsors, parents, mentors, family and friends who have supported our graduands all the way and contributed to their development and success.
I also encourage our graduands to continue pursuing learning opportunities for the rest of their lives. I further invite you to remain dedicated to your Alma Mater and to contribute to its growth and development in every way you can.
As we move towards recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic, we will look to you, our newest generation of thinkers, for your ideas and solutions. We will look to you for your vision of what the world should look like and how it can be improved.
I wish you every success in your future endeavours. Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2022!
