Egerton Students Receive Bursaries from Alumni Class of 1990

Twenty-five needy students from Egerton University have benefited from bursaries from a group of Alumni who joined Egerton University in 1990. The Alumni group known as EU 90 Alma Mater Charity Fund have incorporated bursaries and mentorship activities in their programmes as a way of giving back to their former University.

Twenty-five needy students from Egerton University have benefited from bursaries from a group of Alumni who joined Egerton University in 1990. The Alumni group known as EU 90 Alma Mater Charity Fund have incorporated bursaries and mentorship activities in their programmes as a way of giving back to their former University.

The group came together under the running call of making a difference by contributing resources annually and using the proceeds to support undergraduate students of Egerton University. The bursaries will initially cover accommodation fees for the needy students but will incorporate tuition fees as the Fund grows. Identified students will continue to receive support from the Fund provided they maintain good grades and discipline.

The cheques were presented to the beneficiaries on 22nd July 2021 at Njoro Campus by representatives of the team led by Dr. Kuria Wamukuru and Beverly Achieng. The event was witnessed by madam Lydia Lang'at from the Dean of Students Office and Dr. Masaya Chakava from the Alumni Relations Office. Dr. Chakava noted that the University welcomes other Alumni groups to support initiatives that enhance the welfare of students as well as mentor current students.

On behalf the student community, staff and sponsors, the University Council and Management wishes to thank the Egerton University Alumni group known as EU 1990 Alma Mater Charity Fund from the Faculty of Education and Community Development Studies (FEDCOS) for incorporating Bursaries and mentor-ship activities in their programmes as a way of giving back to their former University. The University wishes to inform all Alumni that the University has set up and Endowment Fund under the Alumni office under the Directorate of Marketing and Resource Mobilization for the Alumni, Industry partners and well wishers to contribute and support needy students to meet their tuition fees. The VC advised students maintain high moral standards, discipline  and good grades for them to be supported.

Egerton University Alumni Association

Egerton University Alumni Association was formed in February 1984 when former students of Egerton College got together and formed an organization. The association serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas amongst members, staff and students of Egerton University; it promotes the image and integrity of the University, as a quality institution of higher education and it engages the alumni and other stakeholders in the physical development of the university.
